Black Ven Stanza

The Black Ven Stanza of the Poetry Society meets roughly monthly in Exeter. It is primarily aimed at working into and editing/feedback on work-in-progress poems for personal development, and to encourage performance, submission or publication. From 2024 – 2026, we were thrilled to partner with Quay Words and Literature Works.

Sarah Acton is the convenor and presiding genie of Black
Ven Stanza. She is a writer and performer weaving oral history,
myth realities, story and expanded cosmos connected to places
and landscapes. As part of her research practice Sarah delivers
immersive community collaborations, performances and
writing commissions based on site response. See her website here.

Since 2025, I have been the locum genie of Black Ven Stanza when
called upon.

New members are always welcome. Please contact Sarah Acton

    About Me

An award-winning poet and educator based in the South West of England.

Matt is a fine communicator who engages audiences and groups quickly and easily. He enables and energises people, whatever their age or background. He is not afraid to explore unusual routes to engage people and it is this precisely that so often generates a successful outcome. People are surprised by him and, in turn, they frequently surprise themselves.
